Essential or Premier: which RV inspection do you need?

You choose. The Essential Package is a basic hands-on condition inspection of the coach and its systems, delivered as a written summary with 10 to 25 photos. The Premier Package includes everything in the Essential Package, with a more detailed roof and slide inspection, moisture and water intrusion evaluation, significantly more photos and documentation, a more detailed written report, and short videos of important findings or system demonstrations, providing a more comprehensive record of the RV's condition. Either way the inspection runs 8 to 10 hours and your report arrives within 24 hours of the day we finish.

The short version

Both packages are performed by a certified RV inspector, on site, wherever your rig is parked. Both take a full working day. The difference is how deep the testing goes and how much documentation you get back.

  • Essential Package (NRVIA Level 1) โ€” the basic hands-on condition inspection: interior and exterior, operational checks on the major appliances and systems, roof, slides, awnings, doors and windows, basic plumbing, electrical and LP checks, and safety observations. You get 10 to 25 photos, a written inspection summary, and a list of recommended repairs and concerns.
  • Premier Package (NRVIA Level 2) โ€” everything in the Essential Package, plus more extensive system testing, moisture and water intrusion evaluation, a more detailed roof and slide inspection, electrical and plumbing testing, undercarriage and structural observations, 30 to 60+ photos, short videos of important findings or system demonstrations, and a more detailed written report.

Pricing for both packages, by RV type, is listed on the home page.

When the Premier Package is worth it

If you are buying from a distance and cannot stand next to the rig yourself, video is the closest thing to being there. A photo shows you a cracked sealant line. Video shows you the inspector walking the roof, opening the bay, running the appliance, and narrating what he is seeing while he sees it.

That matters most on the things you cannot judge from listing photos: the roof, the slide seals, and the window seals. Those three are where water intrusion does the most damage, and they are the three a buyer is least able to check alone. The Premier Package is also the one that includes a dedicated moisture and water intrusion evaluation โ€” which matters more than most buyers realize, because delamination starts roughly three years before you can see it.

What is not included

The engine and drivetrain are not part of the inspection. That is deliberate โ€” it is a different trade. What we can do is pull fluids and send them to an outside lab. Fluid analysis covers engine coolant, hydraulics, or engine oil, with generator oil available as well. It is priced separately, starting at $135 for a single sample, and there is a next-day lab option if you are under a deadline to close.

We also do not inspect or repair anything over ten years old.

One thing worth knowing before you book

The inspector who inspects your RV will never be the one who repairs it. Ever. That rule exists so nothing in the report is written by someone who stands to be paid for fixing what he found.

The assessment fee is non-refundable and is always paid before the work is scheduled.

How to choose

Ask yourself one question: will I be standing there while the inspection happens?

If yes, the Essential Package does the job. If no โ€” you are buying from three states away, or the seller is pressing you to decide quickly โ€” take the Premier Package and watch the video before you wire anything.

Common questions

What is the difference between the Essential and Premier packages?

The Essential Package is a basic condition inspection with a written summary and 10 to 25 photos. The Premier Package includes everything in the Essential Package and adds more extensive system testing, moisture and water intrusion evaluation, undercarriage and structural observations, 30 to 60+ photos, short videos of important findings, and a more detailed report.

How long does an RV inspection take?

Eight to ten hours. It is a full working day on the rig, and it is not something that gets rushed.

When do I get the report?

Within 24 hours of the inspection being completed.

Does the inspection cover the engine?

No. The engine and drivetrain are not inspected. Fluid analysis is the add-on that speaks to engine condition, and it is sent to an outside lab.

Do you inspect older rigs?

We do not inspect or repair anything over ten years old.
